Digibytes
Digibytes was our first 'talkie' animation from 2005 featuring our Angel Ai, tech sprite Georgina and introduced Creep, Georgina's green webspider companion. We produced the whole animation in 15 days from its concept to completion using traditional hand drawn images which we then combined with digital backgrounds and animated on Flash. The story was simply that Ai had nearly run out of hard disk space on her computer and needed Georgina to sort it out for her.
Looking back on it it's funny to see the old style mobile phone Ai was using (we hadn't got smart phones then!) and all the animation's rough edges but we still think it has it's charm. Plus of course it was a key point in Lanton's history, especially as it was this animation that introduced us to our voice acting cast of Sakurastar (Georgina) and Mindychan (Creep) who continued their roles in other animations and in the 'radio show' The Georgina & Creep Show (GCS).
Mindychan's interpretation of Creep also changed his whole character as we had something totally different in mind for his voice originally.

After an initial success with the animation we developed the characters further in comics, further animations and, as mentioned above in The Georgina & Creep Show. At this point Digibytes was a key feature to our website and our online forum where Ai, Georgina and Creep would join in with the conversations. Some of the comics and artwork were inspired or made reference to their online presence and interaction with the forum members.
Below are a few of the comics that were online. The first was a series of Halloween strips based on a poll we ran on our forum where we asked people what costume Ai should wear. Ai was convinced that our members (who's names are referenced) would vote for a sexy catgirl outfit. She was not impressed with the result.
The following were other comic strips from the website, beginning with more seasonal ones for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
When Dr Who re-appeared on our screens Georgina and Creep decided to do their own tribute...
For a while Vicky and I lived by a river in Frome. It was mentioned on the forum that Ai was taking photos of the ducks on the river and one of our forum members told her to watch out for the crocodile...
With more content going on the website it was decided to give the Digibytes characters their own mini website called Ai's Site. It was here that we launched Hai-Fai, the audio page which featured The Georgina & Creep Show, Music, Jingles, the outtakes from GCS and 'inspirational' quotes from Ai.
In 2006 The Georgina & Creep Show became our biggest hit, with Georgina and Creep running an online 'radio show' hosted by them and produced by Ai. It introduced several new characters included the newsreader Clive Von Winklepicker and the calamity-prone reporter Bob Funfish.

Before the third show Ai, Georgina and Creep went on holiday to Scotland. Below are some pics and other stuff from their vacation. If you check out the games page here then you will also find a Scottish wordsearch.
New characters were introduced again in 2013 with a relaunched website. They included Caroline and her friend Narissa and Ingrid. They appeared in animations where they introduced themselves (Georgina did one too...sort of.) and in a Digibytes Halloween Special comic.
Narissa and Caroline also got a little comic strip for themselves too...
